The Cock Inn – Mugginton

A first-class traditional pub with a modern cutting edge

About The Cock Inn

Granted, the Cock Inn stood empty for 10 years, but now it’s back, it’s had a makeover and it’s looking good!

The Cock Inn is located in the village of Mugginton, Derbyshire. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the Inn was once known as the Cock Horse Inn. Notably, it was situated on the main route from London to Manchester at the top of a hill and was then an Inn and Toll Bar. For this reason, it also included stables to house the Cock Horses that were hired to help pull the wagons up the hill. However, the stables were demolished back in the 1960s.

Eventually, The Cock Horse Inn became known as the Cock Inn and that name stuck.

The New Look

As can be seen, the Cock Inn has had major renovation work done. A new contemporary extension has been added to house a modern and special restaurant. So, now it combines the original features with modern interpretations. Hence, it now provides a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Further to this, the garden has also been transformed. As well as providing tables and chairs for eating and dining outside you can also book a garden room. A garden room will not only provide shelter but creates an intimate space to enjoy during the summer.

The Food

The Cock Inn provides a menu that contains many dishes from around the world. Additionally, the produce is sourced locally (where possible) and is of the highest quality. All the seafood, whilst not local comes from either Scotland or Cornwall. Also, where possible, the meat and veg are organic and if not available, is free-range. No factory-farmed produce is used.

Reputation

Over the last few years, the Cock Inn has built an excellent reputation. They have built a huge following on social media and rank highly on Tripdvisor.
